Abdominoplasty Boston
|
Question: It seems that I have inherited the physical characteristic known most
commonly as "beer gut". I say "inherited" because I eat lightly, run
a few miles each day, and do more than my share of situps/crunches.
My weight is not a problem, but the protrusion of stomach is.
My question is this:
Is abdominoplasty (surgery to reduce/reshape the abdomen) a suitable
remedy for this problem? And is the surgery reliable and effective
long term, or will genetics simply undo what surgery has done?
Finally, what is the general costs of abdominoplasty?
I have been told that the abdominoplasty
surgery alone will cost between $5k to $8k. This would not include
the additional torso sculpting. Is this a correct price estimate?
Answer: had liposuction done around my midsection
and it was an excellent improvement. I also had it done recently on
the back of my arms and now I have much skinnier girly arms. I think
they also refer to it as body sculpting. Also consider having the sides
and the backs of your torso done simultaneously.
The only important thing to consider, however, is that you may need
to lose a good amount of weight before having it done. It is much
riskier in terms of blood loss and skin appearance if you are
overweight. When I had my waist done I was 5'10'' and 155 lbs(e.g.
I was thin to start with).
Anything over $5k seems a little pricey. I had mine done for $4k just
outside of Boston and it included a nights stay in the hospital(which
was definitely necessary).
I now live in Manhatten. It might cost 20% more here. I
did not have to pay anything extra for the sides or the back.
I would check with a couple more doctors and see if they have
competitive pricing. I would also make sure that the physician
specializes in this area. If the doctor does not do enough of
these procedures then he/she may come to close to the skin with
the suction device and cause some really ugly scaring.
