Abdominoplasty Swelling
|
Question: I too have a large waist and abdomen, 39 inch hips but 35 inch waist,
even with regular exercise. I had once considered an abdominoplasty
and visited with a plastic surgeon who told me the extra abdominal
girth was from chronic use of Flexeril or other muscle relaxers. I had
the tummy tuck and liposuction and looked really well for several
years, until I began taking Flexeril again. Now the pouch is returning
in spite of routine exercise. Any one else been told similar reasoning?
Answer: Actually yes, I do. Or I did - everything gets quite hard and it's quite uncomfortable.
However this happens to me when stress exceeds my various measures - as it's been doing
quite regularly of late. Don't underestimate the stress factor - it'll get you every time.
I was having the swelling and hardness - with the muscles standing right out almost like a
pregnancy carried high - a *lot* late last fall until about March when I started the B-12,
and at the same time started a spleen glandular that my ND suggested. Actually during those
episodes my belly seemed hard as a rock. That symptom did settle down a lot until very
recently, until *external* stress reared its ugly head.
So I don't mean to be flip about this one - it's not the same thing as the cute little pad
of fat (that I really do pat with some affection). This one's quite nasty. And it's one
thing the doctor can feel and see quite easily.
