Exercise After Abdominoplasty
|
Question: After loosing several pounds of weight I now have a problem with my
stomache. No matter how much I train it doesn`t get smaller.
Is there a medical way without surgery that can help me?
How lose my hanging skin after loosing weight?
Answer: There are some good plastic surgeons who believe 4 should not exist.
Also, there are probably naturalists, trainers, etc. out there who
believe none of these should exist except 1. My experience & training in
the US & South America lead me to believe that all 5 are valid & that
diet & exercise can be combined with any of the 5. There are a
significant number of people out there with a condition know as
diastasis recti which is never amenable to diet or exercise. These
people need surgical tightening of the displaced abdominal muscles.
There is also a group of people who have lost significant amounts of
weight & are left with excess skin that requires removal. All of these
procedures fall under the rubric of body contouring. To find out which
category you fall into you should be evaluated by a qualified plastic
surgeon not a cosmetic surgeon. If you call any hospital university or
private & ask for members of the department of cosmetic surgery the
operator will be dumbfounded because there is no such department.
As for lasers there is some evidence that flashlamp lasers make skin
wrinkles less apparent however this does not work for all people & the
results are variable. Acids or lasers should not be used in an attempt
to remove excess abdominal skin. This requires surgery if in fact that
is your problem.
