Extended Abdominoplasty

Question:

About Rib removal:

In an effort to get a slimer waistline some women, transexual or otherwise, opt to have one or two of their floating ribs removed. Personally I think they should just have opted for the lobotomy as it is cheaper and you feel even better about yourself afterwards.

What's your opinion?

Answer:

In a recent presentation on plastic surgery for transsexxuals, Dr. Ousterhout was asked about rib removal. He said that he did not do it and has yet to be convinced that a sucessful procedure has been developed. As a craniofacial surgeon he said that he often uses ribs as replacement tissue for skull repairs and that the ribs will regenerate after removal. He was not aware of any way to sucessfully prevent the regrowth.

He did acknowledge that it might be possible tho "train" the ribs to new positions by constant corseting over a very extended period of time
(many years) but if the corsetting were stopped the ribs would likely expand back close to their original position.

Unfortunately most genetic males have a barrel shaped chest. Breast development ( or implants), dieting (or abdominoplasty) and hormone therapy can create a more feminine figure but it really seems to me that there is a whole lot more to being a woman than fitting into a standard of appearance that is mostly unrealistic even for genetic females. Most women do not have prefect figures.

I was quite impressed by Dr. Ousterhout's before and after photos of his transsexual craniofacial surgeries. It was obvious from his clients expressions that the changes in facial appearance made them more self assured. If I had $20K (in addition to $10K for SRS and $5K for electolysis) to burn I'd be in his office tomorrow. Unfortunately I'm still working on the electrolysis.
