Question: I did squats - to the floor (thighs touching calves) with 15lbs in each
hand. I did 3 sets of 10. The first set I did with hands to the sides -
the second I tried hands on shoulders and the third w/ hands to sides.
Later when BF got home - he noticed I'd been using the weights - and
commented - so that is why I asked him - and he demoed to me w/hands at
sides and only going down to legs parallel to floor. Not butt to the
floor. He also tried to tell me that squats only work out the quads. I
contradicted him - in that I could feel it in my calves, quads, and
buttisimo. Today I really feel it in my quads though.
That's why I was curious.
My question - can anyone recommend a good Dumbell using training video.
I don't want any of the foo-foo gimmic videos - I want something that is
going to teach me well. But since I only have the dumbells for now I want
something that is geared towards dumbells.
Answer: You did mention that BF has not worked out with weights for at
least a year, right? Don't take this the wrong way, but
I have to say he seems somewhat clueless
about it...
I got a video ($30) from a guy who does personal training and coaching
where he demonstrates lifts with both barbells and dumbbells.
He demonstrates all kinds of squats, deadlifts, overhead presses,
and some Olympic lifts. None of the lifts require a bench.
I found it very helpful.
