Pregnancy After Abdominoplasty
|
Question: The 2nd consultation that I have just done with a plastic surgeon who confirmed
that liposuction wouldonly make my elephant-skin blubber tummy worse.
We both agreed that a full tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) is not an option as
I want to have more kids someday (a long way off, though!). But he
reccommended a "mini" tummy tuck that was not as drastic, but would still get
rid of most of the extra skin and underlying fat.
Can anyone have experience to share with me?
Answer: It's perfectly possible, AFAIK, to have another baby after a full
abdominoplasty, but you may lose your results (I would think the same might be
true of a mini one, but you'd have less money invested). I looked up "mini
tummy tuck" (with quotation marks) on Google and got a number of helpful sites,
including this one:

which seemed quite informative. Several have before-and-after pictures.
The mini version sounds a little more attractive to me -- if I were ever going
to be at ideal body weight! That's the real kicker. :( I got down to under
pre-pregnancy after Peter was born, but alas, it's crept back on again, and
more, I'm afraid.
That's what my surgeon told me. I was certain I was done having kids,
but, frankly, the way I felt, I would have had the surgery
regardless...and just repeated the process years later! Also, if you
gain a lot of weight following a tummy tuck, it's not going to look as
good years later. Now that I've healed for a couple of years, I have a
faded line and the skin is still taut. I don't know about a "mini
tuck"...
