Tummy Tuck Abdominoplasty

I want to know about the age requirements for a tummy tuck
(Abdominoplasty)? + General extra skin questions.?

I'm sixteen years old (almost 17), and I have lost well over 100 pounds. I was around 280 at age fourteen and lost all of it in about six months or so. It's been about a year half since I've stopped loosing weight and my extra skin has not gone away. It's quite bad compared to most cases I've seen. I can literally grab hand fulls upon hand fulls of my skin nearly anywhere on my body, and have a ridiculous case of love handles in the back, which I've rarely seen in extra skin cases. It's pretty frustrating being at a good weight, and looking so much heavier and out of proportion than I actually am. So, is there anything I can do to help (lotions, bath in salt) to maybe make it go down even the list bit? I know not much changes it but the actual surgery, which brings me to my second question - is there a law age restriction? I know a lot of places require the patient to be at least eighteen years of age, but is that a personal firm thing or an actual law?

Answer:

You need to have a consultation with your doctor who can offer suggestions. You could be carrying around 5-20lbs of extra skin depending on the severity. I would not be too concerned about the "flab" at this point since you should proud at such an astonishing accomplishment. Your skin is still somewhat flexible so it may snap back a bit yet. A doctor may be able to suggest a specialist (ie plastic surgeon) who will take your case.

Congratulation on the weight loss! Good for you! I have seen cases where people younger than 18 have plastic surgery. I think in most cases they just need a parent to approve the surgery before you are
18. If this is something that would be so beneficial to you, I don't see why they wouldn't approve a surgery like this with parental approval. I would talk to your parents about setting up a doctors appointment.

My mom had a tummy tuck about 2 or 3 years ago. She was sore for a little while, but she is so happy with the results. She also lost a significant amount of weight, plus she had had four children. She was really happy to have a tight stomach again and not carrying around the extra skin.
