Tummy Tuck Houston

Question:

Went to get a swimsuit and shorts, as last yr's stuff doesn't fit. Thought I might lose that baby tummy flap of skin (some of you know *just* what I'm talking about). I'm down 30 lbs, and recall being at this weight pre-kids, no flap, could wear variety of leg cuts, etc. my bod has CHANGED! Seems like lots of suits w/ tank tops (good top coverage) and high cut bottoms- flap sticks out. Found something finally that I could live w/ but can't believe that slack piece of skin is just sitting there! Except during illness, been exercising regularly, going up steep mtn. path and down.

Am I destined to keep this flap? Has anyone exercised off the flap? Is surgery the answer to the flap (hinted to husband that tuck might make a good 40th Bday present). He said he was loathe to spend $ for unnecessary surgery and unnecessary risk, to think about it, still have 2 yrs to go.

Though not usually vain, I asked similar qu. about my chin couple weeks ago, Honey gave good info. Maybe getting more vain w/ age? Still need to lose about another 25 lbs.

Answer:

From what I understand, the tummy tuck operation is one of the most drastic cosmetic surgeries one can have. And it isn't easy to heal from. It is also very very expensive. I would also imagine it would be considered elective and not covered by insurance.

I wondered how close you were to goal. I lost sixty pounds in '99, although I did not stay the course, so now I am back. Anyway, my empty 'baby bag' was from twins, and it got to where it was manageable in a swimsuit. It didn't hang down and peek out of the leg holes. It wasn't attractive unclothed, but I understand that exercise tightens up stretched skin. It just takes a long time. Also, you have to keep the weight off. That's where I failed.
