Tummy Tuck Info

Question:

I'm getting a tummy tuck. I'm excited and nervous of course.

is there anyone have experienced with tummy tuck. Can you give me some answers? How long is the expected recovery? What made you decide to have it done? How much does it cost? How long does it last? Will you have to get it done again if you gain weight? What percentage of patients have negative results--infection, etc.? What type of pain medication was prescribed?

Answer:

2 weeks for the bruises from liposuction to go away, a week to take out the stitches from the Tummy Tuck. You have to wear a compression suit (kind of like the Marquis de Sade meets platex girdles) for 4 to 6 weeks.

Because I look terminally pregnant. It won't matter how much weight I lose or how much I exercise, this will not go away. Mainly because I've been so heavy (and pregnant and heavy) for so long the abdomen wall is all stretched out like an old baloon.

Here in Phoenix prices range from $4500.00 to $7000.00. They discount if you have lipo done at the same time. There is also a charge for the anesthesiologist, the use of the surgical facilities and any hospital stay.
(I'm staying one night at the hospital)

Most surgeons will hook you up with a financing agent if you ask.

as I said previously, the fat is gone for good. However the remaining fat cells can swell up to take their place. So if you gain a large amount of weight, you will increase in inches in that area. You just won't have the pocket of fat you had before.

The risk with this type of operation is due to general anesthetic. Stroke, heart failure and excess bleeding are concernes as with any major surgery. Infection is realitively rare, it depends on the individual patient. I heal very quickly and rarely get infections, so it's likely infection won't be a problem for me.

I will have to wear two drains for 3 to 4 days. They are long tubes with a grenade shaped bulb on the end. I have to make sure they are emptied and that the incision that they go into is kept clean.
