Tummy Tuck Questions
|
Question: For those of you who have/had bunnies with excess cecal issues, how long did
it take to correct the issue with a good bunny diet?
Are there bunnies who always have excess cecal problems? If so, what are the
underlying causes?
Answer: I had a rabbit who didn't get too much starch or protein, the usual
causes of excess cecals, but still had it. She was an older bunny.
It turned out Mathilda was just too chubby, or at least was too chubby
at one time. She had excess skin on her tummy which caused a problem
when she bent over. She could not reach the cecals. She had a "tummy
tuck" surgery on the skin, and all was well.
As far as I know, your rabbit is somewhere between 3-4 years old.
He seems to be okay in the weight department, but I have no idea of
whether he was chubby previously. A "tummy tuck" for a bunny...who woulda
thunk it! I'm glad that the procedure helped Mathilda and I'll ask the
vet if she thinks he has a problem in this area.
